Coastal Scents - Hot Pots: Violetta

Coastalscents.com's description:

"deep mauve-violet hue with a satin finish"

Finish : Satin
Application :  Opaque

"A 1-inch metal pan that contains a highly pigmented eye shadow for multiple applications. Each Coastal Scents Hot Pot™ fits snugly into our Go Pod, 4 Piece, 12 Piece, and 28 Piece Empty Magnetic Palettes. These custom palettes contain magnets in a soft foam padding which attract the metal pan of the Hot Pot™. This allows you to completely customize your palette to create any look by simply adding interchangeable Hot Pots™ from our vast collection of shades, hues, and finishes."

My thoughts:

These Hot Pots from Coastal Scents are a lot like MAC's eyeshadows, and maybe even better. They all have a creamy, soft texture, and most of them are HIGHLY pigmented.

I would say that the application of this particular shade is more semi-opaque because you really have to build it to get an intense color. I would agree that this shade is satin, though. I usually use this all over the lid, in the crease, or on the lower lash line.

I would say that the application of this particular shade is more semi-opaque because you have to layer it a little to get it to be dark and intense. I wouldn't say that it is 100% matte either. I mean there's no glitter or sparkle, but there's a little bit of a sheen to it. I usually use this all over the lid, in the crease, or on the lower lash line.

I would say that the application of this particular shade is pretty opaque, and has a very shimmery finish. The name isn't very accurate, though. In my opinion, it isn't gold AT ALL. It's like a light tanish/sandy/bronzey shade with tons of shimmer. I usually use this all over the lid or on the lower lash line.

Coastal Scents - Hot Pots: Sand Dune

My thoughts:

These Hot Pots from Coastal Scents are a lot like MAC's eyeshadows, and maybe even better. They all have a creamy, soft texture, and most of them are HIGHLY pigmented.

I would agree that the application of this particular shade is semi-opaque, and is a satin/shimmer finish. This shade is a VERY close dupe to Urban Decay's Virgin (I'll have them swatched side by side below.) Depending on what other colors you use it with, it seems like it changes colors. Sometimes its shimmery white, or a really light purple-brownish color. Its so weird, but I really like to use it for a transition shade or a highlight shade.

Coastal Scents - Hot Pots: Seaside Bronze

I would agree that the application of this particular shade is semi-opaque, but I wouldn't say it is "bronze" at all. Its more of a golden orange. This shade has a really pretty iridescence to it and depending on what angle in the light you look at it, you see different tones of orange/gold.  I love using this shade for all over the lid or as a pop of color on the lower lash line.

I would agree that the application of this particular shade is pretty opaque. This shade has a really pretty iridescence to it and depending on what angle in the light you look at it, you see different tones of gold/champagne. This shade also kind of reminds me of L'Oreal's Infallible Eyeshadow in Iced Latte. I love using this shade for all over the lid and in the inner corner. Its too opaque and shimmery for a highlight for me.

I would agree that the application of this particular shade is sheer. However, I DO NOT agree that it has a matte finish. Its fairly shimmery in my opinion. There isn't glitter or sparkle, but it is definitely not matte. I love using this shade, though, for a brow bone and inner corner highlight.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics - Lip Tar: Ophelia (Review/Swatches)

Sephora.com's description:

"basic lady-like pink"

"A high-opacity lipstick concentrate with unprecedented longevity. Flash a fabulous smile and a stunning splash of color with this lip formula that combines the longevity of a lipstick with the breezy application of a gloss. The rich pigment will drench your pout and the blend of essential oils, including hemp and peppermint, will soothe and soften the skin for a supremely comfortable finish. For easy travel and application, each Lip Tar comes with a vinyl carrying case and mini lip brush.
It is formulated WITHOUT parabens, and does not contain petroleum or silicone and is 100 percent vegan and cruelty-free."

My thoughts:

Even though the description above says "longevity of a lipstick with a breezy application of a gloss," I disagree. You definitely need a brush (I used the Real Techniques Pixel Point Eyeliner Brush) to apply OCC's Lip Tars. You also need a mirror because the pigmentation of these is just SO rich. It is true though, that these do last a very long time. Even while eating, drinking, and talking, these remain on my lips for several hours, unlike traditional lip sticks or glosses. But it really does depend on what you're doing for how long it'll stay on. These also have a slight minty taste/feel. So if you don't like that, you might want to steer clear of these.
